Town and City branded driving school car

Your learning. Your progress.

Lessons that help you understand what you’re doing, recognise your progress and prepare for safe, independent driving.

  • Treated as an individual
  • Clear, friendly guidance
  • Safe, supported practice

Pupil-centred driving lessons

Start with your needs. Develop at your pace.

Your lessons begin with a conversation about your experience, confidence and goals. Together, we’ll choose useful next steps and adjust the approach as your understanding and skills develop.

  • A starting point that fits you New to driving, returning after a break or moving from another instructor? We’ll build on what you already know and identify where support is needed.
  • Time to understand and practise Ask questions, revisit difficult skills and explore explanations that make sense to you. Progress is reviewed with you, without comparing your learning speed with someone else’s.
  • A calm, supportive environment Mistakes help us recognise what to work on. Your instructor manages safety while helping you learn from the experience and gradually take more responsibility.

A simple cycle for useful learning

  1. Discuss What do you want to develop?
  2. Agree Choose a clear, manageable goal.
  3. Practise Try it with suitable support.
  4. Reflect Review progress and the next step.

Your voice matters. Tell us what feels helpful, what remains unclear and where you’d like more practice.

Theory support alongside your lessons

Understand the answers. Put them into practice.

Theory learning makes more sense when you can connect it to what happens on the road. We support your revision with Theory Test Pro and help you work through questions during your lessons.

  • Practise with DVSA revision questions

Build your understanding of the rules, signs and situations covered in the theory test.

  • Develop your hazard perception

Use video practice to recognise developing hazards, then relate what you learn to your driving.

  • Know where to focus your revision

Track your progress by topic and practise on your phone, tablet or computer when it suits you.

Theory Test Pro

A little revision. A clearer understanding.

Ask us about setting up your Theory Test Pro access. Bring any topics you’re unsure about to your next lesson so we can help explain them.

  1. Practise
  2. Review
  3. Understand

Support between lessons

Practising with family? Let’s give it some direction.

If you have the opportunity to practise privately, we can help you connect that time with your lessons. Together, we’ll discuss what you’re ready to practise and how to keep it manageable.

  • Work on suitable skills

Ask your instructor which parts of your learning would benefit from extra practice and which need more support during lessons first.

  • Help your supervising driver understand the plan

We can explain your current goals and discuss ways your supervising driver can support calm, consistent practice.

  • Bring your experience back to your lessons

Tell us what went well and what felt difficult. We can use that feedback to help shape your next lesson.

A plan you can take with you.

  1. Agree a focus Choose something suitable for your current level.
  2. Practise with support Keep the route and conditions appropriate.
  3. Review together Use your next lesson to discuss the experience.
