What people say about our Training-

What does it take to become a Driving Instructor?

To complete your Driving Instructor Training and qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor, you will need to pass three qualifying tests-

Part One is a Theory based Test which also includes a Hazard perception test.

Part Two is a test of your driving ability. It lasts for one hour and requires you to demonstrate a high standard of driving..

Part Three examines your ability to teach people to drive, it lasts for one hour and will involve you carrying out a driving lesson with a client whilst being observed by an examiner.

Criteria to become a Driving Instructor-

There are certain criteria to become a Driving Instructor. These are as follows-

  • You must be a least 21 years old.
  • You must have held a driving licence for at least 3 years.
  • Not have been banned from driving or have more than 5 penalty point.
  • Not have been convicted of any serious non motoring offences.
  • Be able to read a car number plate from 27 meters.

You will also be required to complete a DBS Check (Criminal Record Check) before being accepted onto the Register.

Is the role of an Approved Driving Instructor for you?

There are certain characteristics a good Driving Instructor would typically possess. You may wish to consider the following-

  • Are you able to drive to a high standard and do you enjoy driving?

Want to try a sample session?

A popular option for those considering taking up training as a Driving Instructor, is to try a sample training session before fully committing to the process.

This gives an insight into aspects of both part 2 and part 3 training.

The great news is, if you do decide you want to embark on the path of training to be a Driving Instructor, you can deduct the amount paid for the sample session from the overall cost of your course. If you decide it’s not for you, the most you’ll lose is the cost of the session!

The cost of the sample session is £99.00 for 3 hours.

How much can I expect to earn?

Earnings can vary significantly based on several factors, such as; how much you charge, whether you own your own car, how many hours you work and how far you travel each day. Below is a typical example of an Instructors earnings, based on them leasing a car.
